About Mylissa Davis Equine Bodywork

Horse, trail ride, balanced movement,

As a certified Masterson Method practitioner I feel incredibly grateful to have been put on this path to help horses.  The Masterson Method®—Integrated Equine Performance Bodywork is a unique interactive form of equine bodywork, where the practitioner follows the responses of the horse to their touch to find and release accumulated tension in key junctions of the horse’s body that most affect performance.  The purpose of this method is to help the horse release accumulated stress and tension in the body that the horse cannot release himself.

About Me.

From an early age, horses have been a constant in my life. After taking a break from horses in college,  my passion was once again renewed when I began to take lessons and volunteer at a barn that focused on horsemanship and balanced seat riding. Over the course of several years, my knowledge and involvement grew until I was working full-time as the Assistant Barn Manager. It was during my time as Assistant Barn Manager that my passion took on a new dimension. As I held horses for countless chiropractic, massage, and bodywork sessions, I  discovered a profound love for equine bodywork. Witnessing the relaxation, releases, and overall improvements in the horses I cared for became the highlight of my days.

My Journey with Joey.

In 2015, My husband and I decided to relocate to Northern Vermont to be closer to family. We purchased a horse property.  Not long after, my horse Joey made the journey from Seattle to join us. A few years later, Joey began experiencing hind end lameness. Despite multiple vet visits, a definitive cause couldn't be pinpointed. Upon a friend's recommendation, I  turned to the Masterson Method for help. After obtaining the book "Beyond Horse Massage", I  began applying the techniques on Joey and saw firsthand his tension release and newfound relaxation. Inspired by Joey's progress, I  decided to deepen my understanding of the Masterson Method, eventually pursuing certification. As a Masterson Method Certified Equine Practitioner, my goal is simple: to give back to horses by using my knowledge and skills to improve their well-being. My approach to equine bodywork is characterized by my attention to each horse's subtle body language and energy. I carefully listen to the horse's nuanced cues and responses, ensuring I stay below their brace response. The Masterson Method’s gentle and intuitive approach allows me to work in harmony with the horse's nervous system, aiming to alleviate tension and restriction. My primary focus is always on the horse's overall well-being, aiming to enhance their comfort and mobility with each session. I strives to build trust and forge a deeper connection with my equine clients, ultimately facilitating positive change in their lives.
